Age UK Wiltshire was delighted to be the nominated charity for Chippenham Wheelers’s annual Midsummer Bike Night and is pleased to announce that the event raised over £1000 for Age UK Wiltshire.

This is a terrific result and we are immensely grateful to Andy Cook and the Chippenham Wheelers for kindly choosing us to benefit from the event.

Numerous other individuals and groups also helped out to make the event a success.

We received generous sponsorship from a Mars Refuel bid that Jayne Lilly from The Collaborators helped to acquire.  Combe Grove Manor Hotel generously donated an overnight stay for two at their hotel as a sponsorship incentive. Trustee Andrew Thomspon and his fellow Rotarians kindly helped marshall the cars and bikes in and out on the evening.  The Age UK Team of Maggie Christison, Elliot Potter, Trish Cowie and her friend Annie cycled 20 laps and helped raise over £150. David Evans cycled numerous laps and has raised over £200 sponsorship.  Other staff, trustees and volunteers also helped out in preparation, sourcing/donating raffle prizes and on the night to help make the event a success.

The mass attempt to cycle over 5000 miles on the night was also achieved.

An impressive 5257 miles was cycled!  I believe this is a record in the 4 years the event has run.

Thank you to everyone who helped out
